Duties of an Executor
An executor, or personal representative, is nominated by a person in his/her will and approved by a court to manage and distribute probate assets in accordance with the terms of the will.
An executor’s duties may include:
Collect assets
Prepare & file inventory
Prepare & file appraisal
Sell property
Pay debts & taxes
Prepare & file plan of distribution
Obtain court decree of distribution
Prepare & file final accounting
Smaller probate estates and “informal” administration will involve fewer duties and proceed quicker.
