Financial Liability Investigations

A financial liability investigation is used to document the circumstances concerning the loss, damage, destruction or theft of Government property. It is used for accountability and to assess liability for loss.

Commanders may take administrative or disciplinary measures based on the findings.

Suspension of favorable personnel actions is mandatory if an investigation that may result in disciplinary action or financial loss is initiated on a service member by military or civilian authorities.
