Special Victims' Counsel
A Special Victim's Counsel is an attorney who represents and counsels victims of sexual assault in regards to the following:
Victim's right to seek defense counsel for collateral misconduct
Victim Witness Assistance Program
Responsibilities and support provided by the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) and Victim Advocate (VA)
Potential for civil litigation against parties other than the Department of Defense
Military justice system
Accompanying the victim at any proceedings in connection with the reporting, military investigation, and military prosecution of the offense
Eligibility and requirement for services available for medical and mental health services
Personal civil legal matters
Military and civilian protective orders
Military and veteran benefits
