Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment (ADAPT) Program
Alcohol abuse, prescription drug misuse, and drug abuse negatively affect public behavior, duty performance, and physical and mental health.
The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment (ADAPT) program helps Airmen and their families with substance abuse-related issues.
The primary objectives of the ADAPT program are:
To promote readiness, health, and wellness through the prevention and treatment of substance misuse and abuse
To minimize the negative consequences of substance misuse and abuse to the individual, family, and organization
To provide comprehensive education and treatment to individuals who experience problems attributed to substance misuse or abuse
To restore function and return identified substance abusers to unrestricted duty status or to assist them in their transition to civilian life, as appropriate
Air Force policy is to assist members who abuse alcohol. However, the Air Force does not tolerate the illegal or improper use of drugs by military members, and such action places the member's continued service in jeopardy.
After being diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder, patients are placed in the appropriate level of care through a multi-disciplinary, team approach.
When indicated, ADAPT patients may be referred to outpatient medical or mental health professionals for treatment, or to the family advocacy program.
